I had quite a weekend, but at least I wasn’t the only one who was a little off-kilter…

A music review from my mother :)

We went to the Kimmel last night for Summer Solstice.  Many people were there all day and night, but I wanted to see one artist: Milos Karadaglic.  He was fantastic!  He is originally from Montenegro, but trained at the Royal Academy in London and recently signed with Deutsche Grammophon.  His first CD in the US comes out next week.  He is young, very attractive and totally charming.  He performed in a small space and spoke about each piece he played.  I loved my old Charlie Bryd albums and Milos was every bit as good on the Latin works.  He also played Bach fugues and did some more creative pieces.
You should really check out this artist.  He is going to be big.

HE IS GOING TO BE BIG!

Photos from our weekend in Joshua Tree are on Flickr.
The series stops abruptly at our second run-in with a rattlesnake when I threw my camera and broke it. But not before it captured the entire encounter on film. Video coming soon.

Dear Fancy Feast, I knew in my heart of hearts that not ALL cat-ladies were spinsters. Thanks for sharing the message ;)

This 20-minute packing job made bedfellows of Jen’s right converse hightop sneaker (a very dirty sneaker)  her toothbrush, your computer-to-television cable, some “clean” clothing and a package of unopened theraflu nighttime relief. She also walked off the plane, through the airport and down to the baggage claim with sunglasses on and rainbow glitter on her face. It’s good to have her back :)

Last night of Robinson

On the eve of Jen’s long-term departure and my short-term departure from New York, we met Tri and Andy at beer table — where I convinced Jen that if we shared the kriek (and another, less expensive beer), the absurd cost of the kriek would somehow be rendered inoffensive — and then wandered across the street to Anthony’s for very delicious, inexpensive pizza and Nebbiolo.

Then I went home and got ready for bed, and Jen went out and stayed out until about 20 minutes before the car came to take us to JFK.

I’m not kidding. She packed a month’s worth of stuff in 20 minutes. At half past four in the morning. It was amazing.

Oh, Robinson! How I miss thee!
